Al & Cecilia Schallenberger are a husband and wife farming team in Virginia. They grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia in 1981. Armed with years of professional experience in mechanical, manufacturing, and network engineering, as well as project and program management, they set out to prove that the average farmer could build a USDA-approved dairy and sell goat cheese - without selling illegally or breaking the bank.
Their 45-acre Sweet Valley Farm was established in 1998 on the beautiful Rappahannock River in Culpeper County, Virginia.
Milk from our own hand-raised, hand-milked goats is made into Chevre (both plain and loaded with local flavors), as well as Feta and other semi-soft and aged goat cheeses.
Goat Milk Ice Cream
Available in 1/2 pint sizes only.
We have chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry flavors during the warmer months at our Farmers' Market in Spotsylvania.
Cows' Milk Cheeses
Made with milk from our Irish Dexter cows and mixed with locally grown ingredients.
Goat Milk Soaps
The natural way to beautiful skin! Our soaps contain fresh goat milk from our herd, coconut oil, palm oil, olive oil, castor oil, and sodium hydroxide. We use only pure essential oils and occasionally incorporate herbs and minerals.
Goat Milk Lotions
Made by hand in small batches, we use only fresh milk from our own goats, pure essential oils, and top-of-the-line carrier oils.
We work in tandem with our does to raise their kids - they keep them safe and teach them to be goats, we bottle feed them so we don't have to separate them from Mom at weaning. We rarely sell our kids anymore as it is hard to find good people devoted to giving them a "forever home." Use our contact form to learn more.
